The regime in Iran executed the death sentence against a 42-year-old woman who was already lifeless due to a heart attack. Zahra Esmaeili was sentenced to death and when she saw 16 other fellow prisoners hanging in front of her eyes, she was immediately shocked which led to a heart attack.

Zahra Esmaeili Lawyer

She was 42 years old and the mother of two children. Her lawyer Omid Moradi writes on her Facebook:
16 people were hanged before the verdict was to be carried out against Zahra Esmaeili. The executions took place before her eyes. Zahra had a heart attack before reaching the crane. Her heart stopped and she died. Despite this, her lifeless body was hanged, according to Zahra’s lawyer.

Omid Moradi also wrote: “They hanged her lifeless body, and the victim’s mother, Fatemeh Asal-Mahi, personally kicked the stool from under her feet so she could see her daughter-in-law’s corpse on the gallows for even a few seconds.”

According to the news agency Mizan, which is the Islamic regime’s own media channel, the news of the unimaginable event was denied. The lawyer will surely be pressured by the regim to deny this barbarism against a human being.

IOPHR Condemns

IOPHR has reacted strongly to this incident and writes in a statement: “The IOPHR strongly condemns the execution of the innocent prisoner Ms. Zahra Esmaeili and 16 other prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, on the 17th February 2021.”

Furthermore, IOPHR continues: “Ms. Zahra Esmaeili was executed on the false charge of murdering her husband. According to published reports, she was the wife of Alireza Zamani, a corrupt official of the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who repeatedly assaulted his wife and daughter. It was in the face of such attacks and abuses, and in an act of self-defence that the daughter of Ms. Zahra Esmaeili shot her father.”

“Given the series of attacks by Alireza Zamani on his wife and daughter, one should note that Ms. Esmaeili’s decision to take responsibility and the blame for her daughter’s killing of her father, is simply a mother’s only way to protect her child, based on natural and maternal sentiment.”

This barbarism has been condemned all over the world.
